Meet Wynne

Welcome to Organically Exposed
a blog about my experiences with nutrition, fitness and living a balanced life

About me
I'm a Physical Education teacher and high school athletics coach in New York City. I've been a vegetarian for the last twenty plus years and I've had a longstanding interest in health, fitness and nutrition. But I didn't always juice dark leafy greens...

Like many other twenty-something young adults, there was a time in my life where I ate a steady diet of spray butter (why did I ever think it was OK to eat something out of a squirt bottle?), Baked Lays (they're healthier than Doritos...right? not exactly) and eehhhh....beer.

Needless to say I've wised up since then. I now steer clear of processed foods and keep a totally natural kitchen. Over the course of my transformation, I've learned a thing or two about reading food labels and how to eat the most nutrient-dense foods to keep my body nourished and energized. So I said hasta la vista to factory foods, pesticides, food hormones, additives and flavor enhancers - they were never really that good to me anyways.

Another important aspect of my life is being physically active. I'm a former collegiate athletes and a current PE teacher. I care deeply about sports and physical activity and will share this side of me with you as well.

I'm happy to add that I now have a holistic certification in plant-based nutrition. I recognize more than ever that good health is much more than fitting into a certain size of clothing. I've studied the strong connection between nutrition, physical activity and managing health and disease and I'm passionate about continuing to learn how to make the most informed food choices as well as finding new ways to keep my physical activity routine fun and fresh. My goal is to inspire and encourage those around me to lead a healthier, happier and more fulfilled life.

Tag, you're it
Please feel free to leave your comments and feedback after my entries. As a life long learner and teacher, I always enjoy hearing from other people. In my opinion, there's no better way to increase your own fund of knowledge. Many of you will have your own exercise tips, recipes or things that just really work well for you - so share your two cents with me and everyone else who's following along (hi mom).

 Cheers to your health
